Speyside<\/strong> is het kloppend hart van de Schotse whiskywereld en het thuis van iconen als The Balvenie, Glenfiddich en The Glenlivet. Nergens ter wereld vind je zo\u2019n hoge dichtheid aan distilleerderijen: zo'n 50% van alle Schotse single malts ziet hier het levenslicht. Maar wat maakt dit specifieke stukje Schotland zo magisch voor het vloeibare goud<\/em>?

Water<\/strong>

De regio dankt haar naam aan de rivier de Spey. Het water ontspringt in de granieten Schotse Hooglanden en stroomt puur natuur door het landschap. Vrij van vervuiling, chemicali\u00ebn en zware mineralen is dit water ontzettend zacht \u2014 h\u00e9t geheim voor een zuivere distillatie.

Microklimaat<\/strong>

Beschut achter de Cairngorms-bergen is Speyside aanzienlijk droger en zonniger dan de Schotse westkust. Dankzij de aanvoer van zeelucht via de Moray Firth blijft de luchtvochtigheid er opvallend stabiel. Dat laat de whisky uiterst gelijkmatig rijpen, wat zorgt voor dat kenmerkende zachte en fruitige karakter.

Gerstteelt<\/strong>

Dit ideale microklimaat doet nog iets: samen met de vruchtbare bodem vormt het de perfecte kraamkamer voor brouwgerst van topkwaliteit.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t
